Bohai English as a Second Language (BESL)

Background

​

Bohai Education Group is the holding company of BCST and it established the International Exchange Center (hereinafter referred to as the center) in 2019 and is the predecessor of the IEC of BCST. The Center shoulders the important task of the Group's active exploration of internationalization and diversified school-running characteristics. On the basis of reviewing its own development status, the center has an eye on the international stage, actively benchmarks against international standards, and steadily promote cooperation and exchanges with the world's top academic institutions.

In February 2021, the Group successfully passed the certification of the English Assessment Department of the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, becoming the fourth organization in the province that is qualified to undertake Cambridge English exams (YLE, KET, PET) after Shandong University, Shandong Normal University, and Ocean University of China. Cambridge English Exams are world-renowned, including the well-known (International English Language Testing System) IELTS and Cambridge Business English Certificate (BEC). The Group’s introduction of Cambridge English exams aims to achieve the goals of “promoting learning by exams” and “promoting teaching by exams” through these international standardized exams, and ultimately serve the English exams under the guidance of the national curriculum, various international standardized exams and future Study abroad and employment. 

So far, the Group has successively reached agreements with Cambridge Assessment International Education, Cambridge Assessment English, and Qingdao Guokai Middle School, which benefited the Group’s secondary education department including the secondary vocational school and the general high school. In view of the future development of international cooperative advancement programs, the Center believes that it is necessary to adopt a unified language training model, namely the Bohai English as a Second Language program, which is designed to meet the different language needs of the overseas study programs.

Program Details

The program aims to fulfill the needs for the language requirement for international admisson, thus it has numerous test-prep courses e.g. IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo, etc. It also administers a Cambridge Assessment English Test Center (CX090) at Bohai High School. The program then runs courses on campus for Young Learners English and Main Suite Examinations.
